In April of 2015, Takeda Pharmacies, maker of the Type 2 diabetes drug, Actos, agreed to a $2.37 billion settlement for about 9,000 lawsuits. While Takeda continues to stand by their medication, stating, “Takeda’s decision to settle does not change the company’s continued commitment to Actos,” this will come as some relief for the plaintiffs—or their loved ones—who have developed bladder cancer or other serious injuries after long-term use of the drug. The individual awards will be calculated using a “Points Matrix” based on factors including: extent of injury and treatment, age, length of time Actos was taken, dosage and risk factors for bladder cancer (including smoking).

While a settlement has been agreed upon, disbursement of funds is not immediate. Plaintiff Support understands how time consuming and stressful this process can be. If you or your loved one has developed bladder cancer from long term use of Actos, call us toll-free at 1-800-352-9676 to inquire about how we can help in your time of need.
