Prescription Drug GranuFlo
GranuFlo is a dialysate drug used to treat kidney disease or failure. Plaintiffs in the litigation against the manufacturer of GranuFlo, Fresenius Medical Care, claim that the product was leading to a dangerous increase in bicarbonate levels in patients undergoing hemodialysis, which caused cardiac arrest. In 2013, all lawsuits involving GranuFlo that were filed in federal court were consolidated into a multidistrict litigation.
